Healthcare

Health and medical care are key measures of a country's prosperity and well-being. The United Nations' Millennium Development Goals identify eight specific and agreed goals to end global poverty and disease and to achieve sustainable systems in health care, the environment and education.

Joe Clark & Associates Limited is committed to gender equality and health as a basic human right. In concert with established medical and health partners it offers professional assistance to countries seeking to establish a sustainable public health care system and works with expert organizations in the field to establish policies that are sensitive to specific needs and cultures.

 a. Health Reform

Health reform requires changes at both the policy level and in the delivery of health and medical care. Joe Clark & Associates Limited will work with individual governments through its partnerships with Canadian and local professional associations to:

  • Develop policy, coordination and health care programming options;

  • Plan strategically for the development of sustainable health systems at all levels;

  • Assess needs;

  • Develop governance and capacity-building at the village, local, regional and national levels;

  • Train doctors and other members of the medical/health care team;

  • Develop legal regulations and governance practice;

  • Develop performance assessment tools including monitoring and evaluation of training, human resource capacity & needs;

  • Develop professional associations to ensure the highest standards of training and professional development;

  • Build care capacity and management skills;

b. Maternal Health

Maternal health is a fundamental measure of a country's success, yet the health of women and girls remains problematic in most of the developing world. Through its partnerships with professional medical and health care delivery organizations, Joe Clark & Associates Limited will:

  • Help regional and national health Ministries to draft comprehensive and culturally sensitive public policies to develop and improve family care practices for women, living in both rural and urban settings, before, during and after their pregnancies;

  • Strengthen the expert capacity of professional health care practitioners at local, regional and national levels;

  • Develop professional standards and norms for midwives, traditional birthing attendants, maternity nurses & doctors;

  • Train members of nursing and medical teams in obstetrics to meet high risk maternal deliveries and neonatal emergencies;

  • Develop policy and programmes to meet the specific needs of women living in rural and distant areas of countries;

  • Develop programs and legislation to achieve MDG #4 and #5 on child and maternal health/mortality;

  • Develop national, regional and local policy and programmes of care based on prevention of disease and the social determinants of health;

  • Develop national policy and laws to ensure the rights of women and girls as an integral part of their health and wellness.
